Our guide Elissa was fantastic, we enjoyed her enthusiasm and knowledge of the various parts of Italy we visited. There were a couple of sub par hotels, one in Naples and one in Florence. G Adventures did rectify the problem hotel in Naples and we appreciate that very much.

This was my first and only G Adventures tour. I would share my experience with friend or family about traveling with G Adventures, but everybody is different and has different needs and expectations. After speaking with others on my tour who had taken multiple G Adventures tours it also was clear that each experience was a bit different.

There were many activities we wouldn't have done with our leader. Also felt more connected to the local people and scenes of the areas we visited. Helps lower my anxiety as well.

I was a solo traveler and there were mostly couples on my tour who tended to stick together during free time. How about offering a trip for solot travelers? Thats what I'll look for on my next tour.

We had a poor experience with a group leader. I reported this to your organization at the end of the first week of our travels.

The fact that G Adventures plan the logistics side of things is great. However, my experience on this trip was not great. The guide we had fo the first half of this trip (Samantha) was quite honestly the worst guide I've ever had in my life (and I've done a lot of travelling both with G Adventures and with other companies). She was a terrible communicator, lacked basic empathy for the people in our group, was entirely unhelpful when I had a medical emergency, was selfish - I could go on and on. This has very much impacted my view of G Adventures and has honestly made me much less likely to recommend G Adventures in the future.

Too much busing and moving which was not necessary. Some hotels not great. First CEO inadequately did job. Problems arise but inadequately solved. Some Bus and hotels inadequately air conditioned.

Having to drag luggage over cobblestoned sidewalks to city accomadation is not my style. Samantha, our guide, did not speak much english and did not answer our questions. Some of the hotels were wonderful , but some substandard, unclean and not secure. In the heat, it is important to pick accomadation that has airconditioning. All comunication was through whatsapp (wonderful), yet some of the hotel locations did not have reliable wi-fi. I fell it important ot know what the expecctation is the day before is important and was not porvided by Samantha . I travelled with Susan Beatty, Maggie Beatty and Marilyn Rootham. Susan spoke to the G Adventures manager on our behalf, so will not repeat it.

Unfortunately we had some negative experiences that we felt could be addressed and it affected our enjoyment of the trip as well as cost us addition hotel charges to escape staying in a very bad hotel in a dangerous feeling area of Naples. Out trip was two weeks and the first week had a CEO that spoke poor English, did not consider the elderly trip attendants, rushed key events such as hikes (for no reason) and did not share any history or interesting facts about the areas we visited. Fortunately this CEO was changed out after the first week and a much better CEO was put in. The hotel in Naples was atrocious. The check in process took over an hour, the accommodations were dirty, the air-conditioning in most rooms did not work, and it was located in an area where there were significant number of homeless people, the smell of urine in the square adjacent to the hotel, and a generally unsafe feel. The first night we stayed we did not even want to walk around outside the hotel later we learned that the itineraries called for us to return to the same hotel for our final night we spoke to our CEO about any option to change, with a willingness to pay the extra fee for a change, and the CEO advised us that it was not possible because it had been previously booked and would not be changed. We were travelling with Fred and Andrea Bremner, who were equally dissatisfied and were amongst the majority of our group, who were disappointed that this was the way we would spend our final night of the tour. Ultimately Fred and Andrea Bremner, as well as my wife and I decided we were not going to stay in Naples another night because of that hotel in the area. So, at our own cost, we travel to Rome and spend the night there .

The tour had high potential but didn't actually deliver. The first half was better than the second half - in the second half we stayed in some out of the way towns and getting to the main attractions were a challenge (my friend and I had to cancel one of our planned excursions because it was too complicated to try and make it work). Also, some of the hotels were terrible, especially the one in Naples. We used it on the last night to store our bags but rented an Airbnb instead to actually sleep in. The one in Naples is one of the worst hotels I've stayed in ? ever. So yeah, it didn't deliver and it was clear that nobody has fully tested this tour. I felt like a Guinea pig and I really don't appreciate spending thousands of dollars testing on G Adventures? behalf.

I was disappointed in many of the accommodations, the schedule felt very rushed at some times, and like there was way too much time in places at other points in the trip. In addition, some of the plans were not worked out ahead of time, and our guide was scrambling to get things organized for hikes or other outings at the last minute. It felt disorganized.
